Educational field x visual storytelling

The way teaching material is presented can make a big difference in the learning process. Visual storytelling is a great assist in bringing on complex material, such as procedures, problem-solving or science.

The use of visual design in general:

  • supports the learning material and raises it to a higher quality.

  • encourages student interaction with content or a concept.

  • allows the student to take up information more easily and within a shorter amount of time.

Specific use of videos:

  • creates remote learning opportunities, videos can be watched from anywhere.

  • increases proficiency in communication and digitization, which are important 21th century skills.

Concept and ideation

Brainstorming sessions on how to bring a complex theme to an understandable and engaging level.

E-learning material

Supporting material like infographics, illustrations and animated content.

Interactive exercises

Experience with providing content for programs like Rise and Storyline, in which (layered) illustrations can be made interactive.

Explainer animations

Animated videos to visualize complex themes and bring the story to the student, in an engaging, fun and didactical way.

Didactical approach

Together we look at the target group and how we can tailor the teaching material and communication to it.

Prototyping

Prototypes and mockups with work-in-progress material can be provided to the instructional designers, to search the best way of presenting the content.

Interactivity stimulates learning

In e-learning courses, the combination of clickable elements with custom-made visuals results in better engagement. A simple click, drag-and-drop, or text input stimulate behavioral and cognitive interactivity.

Interactive exercises strengthen reflection. By doing the exercises, past information is repeated, and the knowledge is immediately applied. These exercises are motivating because the attention span is longer, and students stay stimulated in a fun way.

Example of interactive exercises, developed in Articulate 360 programs like Storyline and Rise.
